I-Hop was written for TFM's Easter 98 demo. It is based around the children's song "Peter Cottontail", weakly connected to three improvisation sections (because I wanted to experiment with improv :). Each improv is done in different scales -- the first uses major scales, the second pentatonic scales, and the third is done in a blues scale. The improvs really don't have much to do with the Peter Cottontail theme, and connect back up to it in a very clumsy way. BTW, they really are improvisations -- I wrote them straight, and didn't revise them (although really crappy ones were tossed out). Technically the tune features several different types of pulse sweeps (to experiment with pulse sweeps), and also has my first experimentation with percussive sounds (didn't work too well, but not too bad either).
